Where do I pay this?
You will need to pay this to HMRC using the details included towards the bottom of the bill attached to your email.
When do I need to pay this by?
The deadline for each of the payments are below:
Tax Quarter | Payslips Dated | Deadline |
Quarter 1 | 06/04-05/07 | 22nd July |
Quarter 2 | 06/07-05/10 | 22nd October |
Quarter 3 | 06/10-05/01 | 22nd January |
Quarter 4 | 06/01-05/04 | 22nd April |
In some instances, we may have issued the bill after the deadline date as we have just received your completed registration from HMRC.
The reference on my bill is different to last quarter.
The last 4 digits of the reference updates each quarter in line with the tax month and year that the payment relates to. You should update this with each payment where possible.
How do I pay this through my tax-free childcare account?
If you qualify for Tax Free Childcare, then payment of your Tax Bill can be made through your account too.
You will need to find, on the homepage of your account, a link that says what to do if you employ a nanny. Under this option there should be a link which allows you to add HMRC as a payee, you may need your Accounts Office Reference which is in the top right corner of your Tax Bill under the header “Ref”.
I missed making this payment by the deadline, will I face any penalty from HMRC?
HMRC will generally allow for one late payment per year within reason (paid within a few weeks of the deadline). For any other later payments there
My nanny has left, why have I received this?
If you nanny has left then there may be the final tax and NI liabilities due to HMRC, below is a table which details the period each tax bill covers. If there are any payslips dated within this period, then the liabilities requested will be due for payment to HMRC.
Tax Quarter | Payslips Dated |
Quarter 1 | 06/04-05/07 |
Quarter 2 | 06/07-05/10 |
Quarter 3 | 06/10-05/01 |
Quarter 4 | 06/01-05/04 |
My tax bill is negative, what does this mean?
There are several reasons this may happen, mainly this will be due to a tax rebate on your employee’s payslips or if your employee is on parental leave.
